Its Ombre!!!

So I’ve been seeing this new hair color everywhere now and actually have started to take a liking to it! It’s called “Ombre”, or “Melting”, where the roots are dark and the tips are lighter. There are a few ways I have heard, to do it. Some say that you tease the hair and paint the lighter color on the ends of the tease so it isn’t a perfect line of demarcation going all the way across. Others say you paint the hair halfway down, a mid-tone and then put a light tone on the ends of that. Or, if you just let your roots grow-out, you can achieve the look naturally, since this style can cost you a pretty penny if you want it done right! Here’s some celebs that I’ve seen rock this style:
Drew Barrymore looks super playful with her ultra-blonde tips! Her stylist did a great job of blending it so it doesn’t look too harsh.

Sarah Jessica Parker keeps it classy with shiny, wavy locks that gradually become lighter.

Jessica Biel likes it polished with a not-too-drastic difference from root to tip, but just enough to add some dimension.

Rachel Bilson pulls off the grungy, unkempt look by glamming it up with a hot pink lip and alternating waves.

Hilary Duff looks like a true California girl with her beachy strands.

What do you think about this style? Is it here to stay – or will it “fade out”? I say, if you’re looking for a change, try it out! Remember, it’s just hair! :)

Which outfit can steal the show?!

Who Wore It Better: Olivia Wilde or Kelly Ripa

Gucci wool dress

Dorothy Perkins metallic handbag
$27 - dorothyperkins.com

Fantasy Jewelry Box choker jewelry
$44 - fantasyjewelrybox.com

Olivia Wilde wore this Gucci Pre-Fall 2012 black silk strapless gown and accessorized her look with a gold clutch, gold choker, and elegant cat-eye makeup. Kelly Ripa was spotted in the same gown, but added a black sparkly clutch and black pumps.
My personal favorite is Olivia Wilde. The gold chocker creates a glamorous look and I loved the way she has accessorized the outfit with a golden metallic clutch which makes the whole look ultra chic.
Who do you think wore this dress best?

Getting to know the Style Diva: Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor
Q. You’ve swept many style awards and are looked upon as a style diva. Do you feel the pressure to constantly make a statement?
A
I don’t. For a 26-year-old to be told that she is a fashion icon is a huge thing. After all, I’ve been in the industry for just five years and have had just five releases. Looking good is no effort for me at all. I enjoy dressing up. I’m just being myself. So where’s the question of any pressure?
Q. Your wardrobe is massive. Do you enjoy shopping abroad?
A
Not really! I also like Indian designers. Recently, I went shopping at Mango and enjoyed their sale. Like any girl I love ‘sales’. I love shopping all over the world as well. Even if I’m in Timbuktu I’m sure to find something that goes with something I already have in my wardrobe and end up buying it.
Q. Do international outfits have better cuts and fits?
A
No! By the way, most of the international outfits are made in India and are exported and sold at a 200 per cent hiked rate.
Q. One fashion faux pas that you’ve not forgiven yourself for...
A
My biggest fashion faux pas was gold ballerina shoes! I wore them during the promotion of Saawariya. When I look at the pictures now, I’m like what was I thinking. If I saw them on anyone else I’d be sure to make fun of them. Actually, I had twisted my ankle at the time and couldn’t wear heels. In fact Ranbir Kapoor is the only co-star I can wear heels with because he’s so tall. With the rest it’s always a ‘no no’ as you can’t appear taller than the hero. I had five pairs of flats which I’d repeated too often. In a moment of weakness I wore the ballerinas that were completely mismatched.
Q. If you were working in a 9 to 5 office space, how would you dress?
A
I’d wear a lot of Texas skirts and wide leg trousers as they are comfortable to work in. I’d pair them with buttoned down shirts in various colours. Polka-dotted shirts also work wonders in the office space. In Mumbai it’s hard to wear jackets because of the humidity. In the North one can. In Mumbai, one can wear waistcoats for a formal look. People perceive you by the way you dress. It’s different if you’re in a casual job. But in a corporate atmosphere one can be fashionable. Even a scarf can complement the formal look.
Q. How do you jazz up your appearance when you’re at the gym?
A
I go as ‘colourful’ as possible. I have to motivate myself while working out. Also, I wear minimum gym wear as I need to see what parts need toning up. If you cover yourself you won’t know which body part you need to concentrate on.
Q. How would you deal with a wardrobe malfunction?
A
I don’t know why people make such a big deal about wardrobe malfunctions. I would just cover up and move on. The show must go on after all. Come on yaar, India is the land of the Kamasutra (Winks).
Q. Name your favourite designers.
A
Well, in India there’s Anamika Khanna and internationally I dig Chanel. I love their styles as they’re classy, edgy and beautiful.
Q. What is your mantra for beach wear?
A
A bikini hands down. I love bikinis. I love vibrant beach wear. When one is on a beach, one should look colourful. I love to accessorise. So I would take head gear, sarongs, slip-ons, scarves and sunglasses. But wear only cheap stuff; don’t ruin your expensive wear on the beach. It’s not cool.
Q. Which is your favourite perfume?
A
Michael by Michael Kors. I love it because it has a jasmine scent and jasmine reminds me of India. Do you wear different perfumes during the day and night? During the day one must not wear a strong perfume. But it should be something that lasts through the day. You can keep spraying it whenever you think it’s fading. At night, wear something that stands out and lasts long.
Q. Are you addicted to shopping online?
A
Yes, I'm addicted to online shopping. It’s easy and one can just sit on the bed and indulge. I wouldn’t recommend it to those who don’t know their sizes because the fit is extremely important. But for someone like me who’s hard-pressed for time, it’s the best way to shop. A couple of times I’ve also received some defective pieces which I returned. Online shopping today has some great return policies.
Q. Is heavy make-up for you?
A
Not at all. It should be reserved only for special occasions. One should always look as fresh and young as possible. Also, make-up isn’t very good for the skin.
Q. How do you remove make-up?
A
L’Oreal has this fabulous make-up remover. It’s actually an eye make-up remover but I use it all over my face. Since it’s for the eyes, which are sensitive, it’s not harsh. My skin is also sensitive so I use it all over my face.
